Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Effingham!

St. Patrick’s Day is a great way to celebrate your Irish heritage (whether you’re really Irish or not) and the coming of spring. Effingham has a fun-filled weekend that is sure to keep you in the spirit of the holiday!

Whether you’re an avid runner or not, the Runnin’ of the Irish 10k & 5k Run/Walk event Saturday, March 16th at the Effingham Performance Center (EPC) is sure to gain your interest. The event features live music, massages provided by Branches Salon & Spa in Effingham, beer and a business expo featuring various local businesses. The races will be taking place on the beautiful TREC Trail just down the street from the EPC. The 10k starts at 10 a.m. and the 5k run/walk starts at 10:30 a.m. Race day registration begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 9:45 a.m. For more information on the Runnin’ of the Irish click here.

The EPC has more than just the Runnin’ of the Irish on Saturday though! Make sure to stick around to see Montgomery Gentry live Saturday night at 8 p.m. The group has won both CMA and ACM awards and have earned millions of fans over the years. Dropping five number one songs and being known for their down-and-dirty rebel attitude, Montgomery Gentry is sure to put on a show you won’t forget! Just across town there is another St. Patrick’s Day event that is sure to please. Tuscan Hills Winery is featuring a live band Friction from 7 to 10 p.m. Come out and enjoy a glass (or bottle) of wine in celebration of the day of the Irish!

As if we didn’t have enough going on this weekend, hometown favorite Homewood Grill is open for their first weekend of the season!
