Spring is in the air! What better way to embrace the coming of the season than to put on those running shoes and hit the road? Next Saturday, April 6th, offers the perfect opportunity. The Lake Sara Dam Run is easily one of the biggest running events (500+ participants) in the area and offers much more than just a race with proceeds going towards Special Olympics and a great party afterwards!
Registration is available on the day of the race from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the pavilion by the dam at Lake Sara. The race will begin promptly at 10 a.m. rain or shine! The race offers a 5k walk/run and an 8 mile course. All finishers receive a medal with special awards being presented to the first overall female and male in each race.
After the race there will be bagels, fresh fruit and drinks available at the pavilion, but make sure to make your way over to Legacy Harley Davidson for the after party! Legacy encourages you to “grab a beer and play runner’s roulette”. They will have free pancakes and sausage from 10:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and Effingham County Porkburgers from 11:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Whether you want to run or walk, make sure to participate in the Lake Sara Dam Run and support Special Olympics! For more information on the race, course or directions to Lake Sara click here.
