If you’ve been in Downtown Effingham in the past two weeks, you may have noticed the new sculptures that decorate the area. The sculptures are submissions in this years Sculpture on the Avenues program, which is on its 15th year. This year we have a total of 26 sculptures and feature 14 new pieces. The new sculptures come from artists all over the Midwest, including some locals.
Sculpture on the Avenues is a self-guided walking tour that begins at Effingham City Hall, located at 201 E. Jefferson Ave. From there, the exhibition winds in and out of the downtown area. We are currently having this years Culture Guide, which offers a map of the sculptures locations, artist information and other local art information, printed.
Since the weather is finally cooperating, we encourage you to come explore the sculptures that have transformed the City’s avenues into an art gallery! If you can’t make it downtown this weekend, make sure to check out the sculptures during the Annual Artisan Fair and Wine Tasting in Downtown Effingham on April 26th and 27th.
Have a great weekend!
