Artisan Fair Takes Over Downtown

The Artisan Fair has taken over downtown Effingham for the eighth year in a row! Over forty artists have come to display and sell their work spread throughout the Courthouse lawn along with numerous other events and entertainment for all.

Tonight marks the event Arts and Hearts from 5-8 p.m. This includes early viewings of many of the artists, live entertainment, specialty foods from Martin’s IGA and Gabby Goat and wine and beer tasting from nine different wineries and breweries from 5-10 p.m. A special performance by Jansen’s Dance begins at 5:30 p.m. and another performance by Exclusively Dance starts at 6 p.m. Other events include a live art auction to benefit ARC, community information booths and sidewalk chalk art for all the aspiring young artists out there.

Start your day off right tomorrow with the Effingham Rotary Pancake Breakfast at Effingham High School followed by the Effingham Central Business Group Coffee Crawl from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. However, don’t forget to come downtown tomorrow from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. for the main event! Paintings, pottery, jewelry, sculptures and more are all part of the displays from artists across the region. Live demonstrations will be performed throughout the day as well as live musical entertainment. As a new event this year, The Blend will be putting on a hair fashion show at 3:30 p.m. Martin’s IGA and Gabby Goat will be catering this event, serving up their special dishes. Wine and beer tasting will be from 12-5 p.m., but no one under the age of 21 will be allowed in the wine tasting area. We couldn’t forget the kids! A Kids Korner will be available with tons of arts and crafts for a day of fun.

Helen Matthes Library will be hosting a “Get Bookin'” Family 5K Run and Walk tomorrow as well. Registration begins at 7 a.m. at the site of the future Helen Matthes Library with a $25 fee to enter. The race begins at 8 a.m., and the start/finish line is also at the future Helen Matthes Library. For more information on the race, visit http://www.effinghamlibrary.org.

Whether it be art, wine and beer tasting, great food, live music or the race, there seems to be something for everyone this year at the 8th Annual Effingham Artisan Fair. Visit downtown and come see what the Fair has to offer you! This is an event you won’t want to miss!
