Whether you’re a local to the Effingham community or just passing through, The Cross at the Crossroads is an unforgettable experience. Soaring nearly 200 feet into the Midwestern sky, The Cross is a landmark for the over 19 million travelers who each year pass through Effingham on Interstates 57 and 70. The Cross was completed in July 2001 and dedicated on September 16, 2001, just a few days after the terrorist attacks. New additions to the Cross have included the Ten Commandments display surrounding the base of The Cross and a Visitor Center, featuring a chapel, a reception area, restrooms, refreshment center and media room where visitors can view a video of the construction and dedication of The Cross.
The Cross at the Crossroads is a project of The Cross Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that strives to offer messages and programs designed to promote the values of faith and family. The Cross serves as a beacon of light that brings hope to the community. It symbolizes unity in the Body of Christ to the Effingham community, the surrounding areas and millions who pass it each year.
Throughout the year The Cross features various events including weddings, group blessings, memorial services and meetings. For information on upcoming events or general information, please call 217-347-2846 or click here.
